We finally have released version 2.0 of our popular "Multimedia Tools" product range, for both ActiveX and VCL. 

With this release we fix many smaller bugs and absurdities, we have included enhanced support for Win2K and ME, improved the Mpeg decoder so it reads all MP3's correctly, added support for ID3 and ID3v2Tags and so on. We have nearly all components enhanced or some of them completely reworked based on your suggestions or during our own developments. 

We did not have the time to write a history of all changes but you can expect lot's of enhancements and improvements since the last release while the library is completely code compatible with previous versions. In the rule you must not rewrite any line of code in your application to interface with the updated components and controls.

The demo archives are of course also updated, we have included all new demo applications we have written during our support work, so you will now find demo code for nearly any task you might have in mind. All these demos have been requested very often during the last months so we hope they will help you to get your work quickly done. 

Additionally we will release a new web site with custom and individual components within the next days or weeks. We made these developments during our support or contract work during the last 5 years and we think that these components might be interesting for some customers because they deal with topics like WMA files, Dialogic VOX files, Purevoice files, Digitalk files, resampling from 48<->44Khz, ASIO drivers, VST plugins, DirectX plugins and many, many more. If you look for some fully MMTools compatible, individual components you should visit our website in a few days again to find more informations and purchasing instructions. 

OCX Version only:
With this version we also fix some version compatibility problems of the ActiveX controls you might have encounter between the previous versions. Because of this we have changed the name of the OCX files for example to MMToolsX2.OCX and changed all GUID's so any older version of the controls can coexists with the new version on the same machine. To make the upgrade of your existing projects possible and easy we have developed a upgrade tool which will upgrade your existing VB or VC++ project to the new version with a single button click. We have also changed the method of protection completely. The old keyfiles will now no longer work because on some machines and distributions this kind of protection made some problems. For the new version you will instead receive a unlock code which is included in your projects initialization part, for VB this is a module MMRegister.bas, for VC++ a MMRegister.cpp and .h which includes the unlock codes for the products you have purchased. This makes the registration of the controls easy and safe and with this kind of protection your application will run with any future version of the controls without recompiling so the version problem is finally solved. 

Please note that the new ActiveX demos we have released will work with the new ActiveX version only, they will not load if the new version is not installed on the development machine because they use the new GUIDS and OCX names.

The new evalution versions and demo archives for all supported compilers can be downloaded from our download page. 

For users who have purchased our products within the last 4 months the upgrades will be free. For other customers we charge a upgrade fee which is in the range of 25% of the purchase price. 
Please understand that we don't have the resources to send the upgrades to all existing customers for free, we have put much effort in the development of the new version so we hope you will find it worth the upgrade fee.
